What We Do

The Kiwanis Club of Decatur, Alabama has one main fundraiser:  PANCAKE DAY

In 1966, the Kiwanis Club of Decatur hosted their First Annual Pancake Day event, cooking pancakes and sausage with a smile for the area supporters.  Over 50 years later, this tradition continues.  During this time, our Kiwanis Club of Decatur has raised over $1,000,000 allowing us to support a variety of worthwhile projects that directly benefit children in our local community.

Below are some of the local projects receiving Pancake Day funds from our Club’s foundation:

  • Annual scholarships to outstanding graduating seniors from area high schools
  • Oak Park Middle School football program
  • Renovation of Decatur High School girl’s softball field (now known as Kiwanis Field)
  • Decatur High School forensics tournament and Cedar Ridge math tournament
  • Delano Park All Access Playground and the Delano Park Rose Garden renovation
  • Decatur Free Clinic
  • Point Mallard Soccer Field
  • Carnegie Cubes Art Education Program available at schools throughout Morgan County
  • Contributions to various projects of the American Red Cross, Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs, Mental Health Association, Safety Patrol, Junior Achievement, Wheeler Basin Regional Library, Salvation Army, Neighborhood Christian Centers, and others

Additionally, we have speakers at our weekly meetings to explore topics of interest to the membership. We engage in a number of social activities to share experiences, talents, and our collective interests. All represent significant opportunities for service, friendships, and personal growth.
